John Bitner has 20
years experience in the design, development,
and commercialization of innovative pharmaceutical
packaging. As Manager of Package Design
and Development at Searle, he gained international
acclaim as an expert in child resistant/senior
friendly packaging.
His open dish initiative methodology
has provided a more scientific approach
to the selection of packaging materials
for stability protocol. He has participated
in the forefront of investigative research
related to improved seal integrity and
higher barrier performance through adhesion
technology, tooling, and structural
blister design. He played a vital role
in packaging for the launch of the first
transdermal drug delivery system, the
sleep medication that swept the market
and remains dominant in that category,
and most successful launch of a blockbuster
drug in pharmaceutical history.
Mr. Bitner is both past Chairman of
the Institute of Packaging Professionals
and of the Drug & Pharmaceutical
Packaging Committee. Mr. Bitner graduated
cum laude with a BA degree in Design
from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
